Hi, all peeps in my group if u wanna be the witnesses please tell me we can choose from the volunteers.
Thanks
RAMANA
If I was Columbus,I think I might do something bad behaving to native americans like him.
It's because that time's native americans couldn't say any languages are in europe continent, they only could say their own language. So, I might got angry at them and I have the meapous but they just have rocks and saome weak weapons. That's all what they have. So Columbus destroyed their place and conquered. And now, they could ruled them and trade;(Of course,in fact, it was just pillage)with them. But the native american thinks Columbuses are very bad and rude people to them, but I think that is the best way for Columbus because he had to show his result to the Queen of the Spain and if he successed this exploration, then he could get money and power. I think everyone couldn't behave good to them that time. And most important thing of this is the America continent more developer than before cause of that exploration in conclusion.
Hey, this is Kaustav
ok well, i think that though columbus actually 1st came 2 america, he wasnt responsable for all those deaths. He was simply trying 2 find a trade route 2 india, he wasn't trying to take over the continent by killing ppl.
It was ppl like Cortez that did things like that.
CORTEZ IS EVIL
OH, Yeah, what tej said... any1 in the group wanna b witness, just tell ramana...
Tej, y is yr 1st comment fire?
...
kaustav: srry accident i didnt mean to post that mistake
i have to agree with kaustav that tmight not of been his intention. But it certainly lead to the massacre of the native americans. Also they were taken as slaves which led to the civil war in america to free the slaves. Also it made the war between the americans and the british for the freedom of america.
Colombus led to much EVIL!!!!!!!!!!
oi tej this is kush i doing the same topic i am for it do u wanna hav a partnership...
Hi guys
Just read your comments-great to see u have made a start.
Could u guys tell me what u think the world would be like if Columbus and the others had not set out on their voyages of discovery?
Did Europeans bring civilization to the rest of the world?or did they destroy civilization?
oh,by the way if u are wondering who history4myp is.......its
MRS SHEENA VERGHIS JOSHY....
Anthony (hi)
Christopher Columbus (1451-1506) was an Italian explorer who sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in 1492, hoping to find a route to India (in order to trade for spices).
I think that christopher columbus was not very bad because after five centuries, Columbus remains a controversial figure who has been variously described as one of the greatest mariners in history, a visionary genius, a mystic, a national hero and a naive entrepreneur. But maybe somtimes he did bad things.
Im aneesh from 8C
im sure u know me but if ne1 in the against the group want to help us and want help feel free to go on our website histor4myp-8c.blogspot.com
thanx
hi guys
WAKE UP 8B!! u guys have very little time left before the big day and I don't see many comments-the same people are putting across their views again & again.Don't the others want their marks.......
Look into the web page:
http://faculty.ucc.edu/egh-damerow/voyages.htm
What are your views-can the aggression we see round us today be traced back to the times of the voyagers? When land was grabbed from the natives of the land.Is might still seen as right-do countries still exploit weaker nations, brainwashing people to believe that it is all being done for their own good?
What are your views?
Hi guys,
In Wikipedia , Columbus' voyages are listed out in detail. Even though he started conquering America. He never used it for his own. He was govern in place of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabelle of Spain.
It was the conquistadores of Spain who spoiled America!!!
Especially Cortez.
columbus was responsible for all those deaths, so he was at fault... but cortez was also vry evil n stuff..
thanks all for the comments and kush ill post on your site to reply and thanks.
Does anyone have any sites i can visit to gather info or telle me and ill give you my e-mail and you can send it to me.
GO 'FOR' TEAM
Columbus was ruling in place of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabelle.
In fact he has named an island after the Queen.

hey everyone,
well i think that columbus was at fault at times but not always if u look at it in some ways it looks as if christopher columbus went looking for india for a personal benefit but reached america instead.eventually columbus set a trend of going westwards looking for countries.now this was one good thing he did which has benefited others.he may have set the trend of slavery as well but who asked the others to continue the trend.if u are not happy with what columbus has done that is fine but the world would not but the world would not be where it is now if columbus had not been mean.
hey people,
columbus was infact not the main culprit for all the wrong in america it was the spanish conquerors.
columbus has even proved that he did not do everything for himself by naming an island after the queen.
hey, this is amrutha from 8c... if any1 from the for team needs help i mite be able to contact a cousin... no promises tho. tejas and kaustav hav sum rly. gud points tho.

sindhu
isnt kaustav in the against group???
I support Christopher colombus because he found America, because of him only
America is famous.America got famous and there were lot of biusness, trade, and lot of jobs.America is at the top at everything. Now because of America all the other
countries are surviving. If christopher colombus did not find Amerca than the whole world will not be like this.
alot of the above ^ (rizwan's comment) is not true. he didn't make america what it is today, and also, all countries don't depend on america for everything.
he only discovered america by accident, anyone else could have done it.. why does he deserve all the credit?? so many bad things came out of his expedition too.
Hi,just to remind you that the Court Room Drama will be staged in the 2nd week of October ie between 8th - 12th Oct,hope you all are fully geared to accept the challenge!!
Group leaders I would like you to meet me with your final plan one week from today ie on Monday,1st Oct
Columbus never possesed the colonies on his own accord. He had asked the King to give him a contract which all of his desires.
Since it was in his contract, he was allowed to rule the islands he found
BUT
he was not allowed to enslave the people
THIS IS NOT BOUT WAT HE IS ALLOWED OR NOT ALLOWED
this is wat christopher columbus and HIS ILK which includes cortez did
and that they gave a negative impact to the world
Here are 5 points that'll kill the opposition on the debate day:
The tobacco exports.
The enslavement of the native americans
The colonization and consequent revolution in america
the destruction of the natural enviornment started greatly.
And the destruction of the great mayan, aztec and inca civilization by cortez and the conquistadors
Please all those who read this in my group any of you who want to be one of the two witnesses please please tell me!!!!!!!
hi guys,
everyone mail their IDs to kumar.ramana@hotmail.com
that is everyone in my grup
hey ramana im Varun i am on the same side as u on the 8c side. Maybe we could help each other. ill email u
Columbus is responible for most of the weaponry. If he had not discovered America, the war tools would not have been invented in america.
he is the one who made america this agresive
yo peeps!
hey i didnt ev wanna b in dis group in da first place!! =( o well i gotta do wut i gotta do! lol!
well i guess that uh.. columbus is evil! DIE!! wait lemme get sumthin betta 4 u tejas srry! i kinda suc at this.. i dunno much abt columbus to b frank!
yo peeps im so totally lost! HELP ME! o yea heres sumthin..
Chirstopher Columbus by discovering America did bad as he kind of distroyed the rich culture and heritage of the Indians by moving in his Europeans.
Howz that?
Hey by the way Tejas?
What am i?
in the court room drama i mean....
temme faast..
hi ms. Sheena i finally found the site..
sindhu gave me the wrong link so i coulnt access it for a long time...
sorry for the delay
i support columbus because new religions culture and nationality would have been introduced and i must agree with ramana that time native americans couldnt speak english so it would have been very tuff for him to co-operate.
Both groups,I suggest you look into the blog of 8C-get ideas and start blogging with your own ideas -sure u have plenty of them...
Rizwan to counter your last comment i say that even though colombus discovered America dosen't mean if he hadn't discovered it noone else would have. Also your point that many other countries depend on it. How can you say that America may be at the top of many feilds but are there countries who without it's help are rising past it to become 'MEGApowers'.
Ok now i got varshini and sindhu as my current witnesses and if either of you wanna back out or anyone else wishes to be the witnesses please tell me!!!!!!
may I throw in a cat among the pigeons and say Columbus may have been a fake? :)
http://www.reformation.org/portuguese-columbus.html
WOW THANK YOU MRS YASMINE
is it all true??
Hey guys!!
i kno its hard to believe im actually here..
here is the full version of what columbus wrote..
They brought us parrots and balls of cotton and spears and many other things, which they exchanged for the glass beads and hawks' bells. They willingly traded everything they owned... . They were well-built, with good bodies and handsome features.... They do not bear arms, and do not know them, for I showed them a sword, they took it by the edge and cut themselves out of ignorance. They have no iron. Their spears are made of cane... . They would make fine servants.... With fifty men we could subjugate them all and make them do whatever we want.
tada! im a genius!
columbus brought african slaves to the americas(a cause of racism). even now the africans are descriminated due to columbus
as i said be4, columbus shouln'd be blamed
I'd like to give this example to ramana, so plz listen:
Have you ever heard of Einstein?
He is known as the father of the Atomic Bomb!!!!
But is he considered as an evil person?
no, he isn't
so do you think that einstein and his ilk are responsible for all the deaths in hiroshima and nagasaki???
No, obviously not
Well that's the exact same thing with Columbus! He discovered america, just like einstein came up with the equations to build the atomic bomb. But columbus didn't abuse america, just like einstein didn't drop the atomic bomb.
In both the cases, it was other people who abused it, such as cortez in columbus's time, and the polititions in einstein's time
Now, do you really think that columbus was such a bad person and that he was the cause of so many deaths?
Now here's a 2nd example...
let's say that Columbus DIDN'T sail to america....
Somebody else would've
and then we would be writing a blog about THAT person
So whoever discovers america is blamed!!!
So it dosent matter about the character of the person who discovered it, just that the fact that he did it!!
How the heck is that fair!?!
Ramana, using these two points, i can say that you can crush the opposing group.
No offence to Tejas's group.
srry, that i said heck
this is rahul
kaustav, u said that einstein is the father of the atomic bomb. that is true but he wanted used for enrgy and peaceful stuff.
even when he was forced to make a bomb, he wanted it to be detonated in an uninhabited part of the world, not dropped on Japan.
For group, come to our blog . we give u 4x info
PS. ITS ALL CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS'S FAULT
columbus introduced gun powder, guns, etc to the americas. the native americans would have had a much more peaceful life if columbus hadent found them. war is now a big part in america. the indians used to live peace fully among each other.
!!!
lots of polution comes from america. the indians were a nature loving group of people who were against cutting trees and killing animals unneccesarily. the europians had many animal killing sport which were brought to the americas. now the americas hardly have close to asmany forests they used to.!!!!
so all the ppl hu say that if it were not for him the most developed country would not exist....U GOT CHOPPED..!!
We, the undersigned, petition the President of the United States, The U.S. Congress, and The U.S. Senate to hereby change "Columbus Day" to "Native American Day".
Christopher Columbus did not discover America, he discovered Native Americans living peacefully in their homeland. And, as history has taught us, Mr. Columbus was not even the first to visit America from Europe.
So, then why do we continue to disgrace Native Americans by throwing this "National Holiday" up in their faces? It's about time we realize that as Americans we are continuing the hate cycle by allowing this to continue. We should be thanking Native Americans for taking us in and sharing with us their ancient wisdom.
We have never had a Native American holiday in the U.S. and that is truly a shame. We deem anything we want as a "Federal Holiday" if only for the benefit of government employees having yet another 3-day weekend.
Let us give credit where credit is due. We urge you to change "Columbus Day" to "Native American Day".
!!!
The politically correct view is that Columbus did not discover America, because people had lived here for thousands of years. Worse yet, it's claimed, the main legacy of Columbus is death and destruction. Columbus is routinely vilified as a symbol of slavery and genocide, and the celebration of his arrival likened to a celebration of Hitler and the Holocaust. The attacks on Columbus are ominous, because the actual target is Western civilization.
!!!
this is a qoute from one of the indian chiefs after columbus came
"Where Will Our Children Live...
A lonesome warrior stands in fear of what the future brings,
he will never hear the beating drums or the songs his brothers sing.
Our many nations once stood tall and ranged from shore to shore
but most are gone and few remain and the buffalo roam no more.
We shared our food and our land and gave with open hearts,
We wanted peace and love and hope, but all were torn apart.
All this was taken because we did not know what the white man had in store,
They killed our people and raped our lands and the buffalo roam no more.
But those of us who still remain hold our heads up high, and the spirits of
the elders flow through us as if they never died.
Our dreams will live on forever and our nations will be reborn, our bone and
beads and feathers all will be proudly worn.
If you listen close you will hear the drums and songs upon the winds, and in
the distance you will see....the buffalo roam again."
!!!
when the Europeans started to arrive in the 16th- and 17th-century they were met by Native Americans , and enthusiastically so. The Natives regarded their white-complexioned visitors as something of a marvel, not only for their outlandish dress and beards and winged ships but even more for their wonderful technology - steel knives and swords, fire-belching arquebus and cannon, mirrors, hawkbells and earrings, copper and brass kettles, and so on.However, conflicts eventually arose. As a starter, the arriving Europeans seemed attuned to another world, they appeared to be oblivious to the rhythms and spirit of nature. Nature to the Europeans - and the Indians detected this - was something of an obstacle, even an enemy. The Europeans brought with them not only a desire and will to conquer the new continent for all its material richness, but they also brought with them diseases that hit the Indians hard. Conflicts developed between the Native Americans and the Invaders, the latter arriving in overwhelming numbers, as many "as the stars in heaven".
!!!
A face peeks out through the foliage. He is watching an extremely unusual sight. Some strange white men have arrived in a large brown thing. As the man watches the strangers, little does he know that his life and the life of all his descendants will be changed forever by these strange white men.
The story of the Native American has been a story marked mainly by betrayal and sorrow. Ever since those white men from across the ocean set foot onto this land, the Native American has lost almost everything--his ancestral lands, his dignity, and even his culture have fallen by the wayside. How interesting it is that the people who came to this land first are the ones who have been shortchanged.
From that first contact through the twentieth century, Native Americans have been ridiculed. The stereotype of the "savage, dirty dealin' Injun" is just one of numerous examples. This has not helped the Native Americans in any way. Slowly, things are getting better, but only slowly.
The ways of dealing with the Indian "problem" have been numerous and varied, but the programs succeeded in tearing the Native American away from the land--land that the Native American held sacred. Whether they be Tainos or Aztecs or Cherokees or any one of many other tribes, they have all been betrayed in one way or another by the white man.
!!!
ok guys this is what varun in 8c said:
You guys are only lookin at what things america has done wrong what about all the stuff that america is doing right?
it is helping globalization which is a good thing for everyone. it has developedany peace ful technologies like it and europe helped to develope the way we make electricty today they are one of the coutries that are trying to find alternative fuel resources to prevent pollution many people in it seriously care about the enviornment and a few people are naturalist that are making a difference obviously if u only look at the bad than america seems to suck but it really is good and what u said about faulty space rockets? for every faulty space rocket there are 7 more or so that have worker they are also building the ISS(interntaion space station).
The native americans of southa america like the mayas and aztecs were really blood thirsty acctually some native american tribes acctually fought with the europeans against the aztecs.
Well, varun that is nonsense....
look what technology has made of u now. many girls and boys cant live with out there laptops and computers....the native americans lived happily without the thought of money. they grow and find their food and there children would go and play out in the woods....unlike now many of us are sitting here cooped up in school and in our houses. there were no poorer people because all they need was provided for them by their sorroundings.
u pplz this is hana......
sonal the reason columbus named the island after the queen was cuz she would like him sum more.........do u know how much money columbus got after finding the americas ......lots of gold FYI
no offence kk
kaustav
Einstein had no in tension to detonate the bomb in japan

he was also doublecrossed
he landed in canada and he was killed and his maps were stollen
kaustav you said that it is the fact u find america u get blamed that is wrong it is when u find america and ruin it
well cum on bhavna said he brought africans to america this is true about 9 percent of the african population was dumped on a ship with or without their likin and put in mines and sugar farms in the americas
hana said in our blog that columbus was was the one who put the "manet" on america and the natives' land which atracted many explorers for europe\

you are looked down at by the white men you thought as friends. you are alone no more dancing around the fire and sowing eagel feathers. slowly one by one your whole tribe dies and you go down with them back to mother nature

ooopss sry ppl put the same article twice..
anyway..
Christopher Columbus and his men enslaved native inhabitants of the West Indies, forced them to convert to Christianity, and subdued them with violence in an effort to seek riches.
!!!
On October 12, 1492 (the first day he encountered the native people of the Americas), Columbus wrote in his journal: "They should be good servants .... I, our Lord being pleased, will take hence, at the time of my departure, six natives for your Highnesses." These captives were later paraded through the streets of Barcelona and Seville when Columbus returned to Spain.
From his very first contact with native people, Columbus had their domination in mind. For example, on October 14, 1492, Columbus wrote in his journal, "with fifty men they can all be subjugated and made to do what is required of them." These were not mere words: after his second voyage, Columbus sent back a consignment of natives to be sold as slaves.
Yet in an April, 1493, letter to Luis de Santangel (a patron who helped fund the first voyage), Columbus made clear that the people he encountered had done nothing to deserve ill treatment. According to Columbus:
"they are artless and generous with what they have, to such a degree as no one would believe but him who had seen it. Of anything they have, if it be asked for, they never say no, but do rather invite the person to accept it, and show as much lovingness as though they would give their hearts."

kaustav you are right.... its like the person who invented the catapult..we hardly know him.... but the catapult these days are used by us to shoot animals and birds for fun..... but the inventer of the catapult would not have thought that way when he invented it.... he might invented the catapult for some other reason like shooting down mangoes from a tree etc..
Just read the poem Buffalo Dusk....
It kind of gives the fact that Columbus was the reason for all the trouble... but if you analyse the poem , one can see the BAD conquistadores coming up into the poem..
It is kind of like the poem that Shreya recited this morning.........
But it might have been a different author... bu the poem is completey different
It goes like this:
The buffalos are gone.
And those who saw the buffaloes are gone.
Those who saw the buffalos by thousands and
how they pawed the prairie sod into dust
with their hoofs, their great heads down
pawing on in a great pageant of dusk,
Those who saw the buffaloes are gone.
And the buffaloes are gone.
Carl Sandburg..
